Every year The Glendronach’s master blender, Rachel Barrie, personally selects a handful of individual casks from the Highland distillery’s extraordinary collection of hogsheads, butts, puncheons and barrels to be released as a unique bottling. Each whisky is chosen to be an exceptional representation of the rich, indulgent, immensely complex style with which The Glendronach made its name. Our latest exclusive from the range, specially selected and bottled for The Whisky Shop, was drawn from a single ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon, laid down in October 1993 and bottled in 2020. The result is a whisky of great power, balance and structure, presented at its natural cask strength: a magnificent option to celebrate a milestone or a special occasion. One of 699 bottles from a single PX cask, presented at 54% abv without artificial colour or chill filtration and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Shop.
An intense, deep-flavoured nose, with vintage port, dark chocolate, expresso coffee and walnut-studded Christmas pudding. Dark dried fruit and darker chocolate with hints of chewy leather and tobacco on the not-overly-sweet palate. An exceptionally long and complex finish, with warming spice, cocoa powder, and a surprising, fresh top note.
