This Highland single malt from Balblair was distilled in 1991 and matured for 24 years in American ex-bourbon oak casks and finished for two years in first-fill Spanish oak butts. This 3rd release of the 1991 vintage was bottled in 2017 at a strength of 46% abv, free from chill filtration and colouring.The nose is complex with rich citrus and vanilla, toffee, chocolate, honey and winter spices with a touch of apricot and liquorice. The palate is classic Balblair: citrus fruits, rich creamy chocolate, layers of stewed apples and pears atop Christmas pudding and hot vanilla sauce. The finish brings lively orange notes with toasted coconut and rich caramel.
