The second release of the 2000 vintage from Balblair, this Highland single malt was distilled at the turn of the millennium and matured for 12 and a half years in American ex-bourbon oak before being finished in first-fill Spanish oak butts for four years. Bottled in 2017 at a strength of 46% abv, free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.The nose is rich in seasoned oak, baked apples, fruitcake and vanilla with some ripe tropical fruits. The palate boasts ground spices and old hardwood, building to pineapple, orange peel and honey, before an emerging sweetness heralds the finish with creamy notes of dark chocolate.
