    Dewar’s blended Scotch whisky began life amongst the scenic countryside of Perthshire, Scotland, when local businessman, John Dewar made it his personal mission to introduce true blended Scotch whisky to the world.


    Following his death in 1880, his two sons John Alexander Dewar and Thomas Dewar set out to establish Dewar’s Blended Scotch whisky as a prominent brand around the world. A huge part of their success was the building of Aberfeldy distillery; from where they would draw a perfect single malt to be used within their blended Scotch whiskies.


    Together, the brothers worked tirelessly to promote and create a market and demand for Dewar’s whisky in order to expand the brands profile and business around the world. Whilst John handled the day-to-day running of the company and focused on the quality of the product, Thomas had a natural gift for marketing and advertising. He introduced many innovated techniques that are now considered industry standard, such as the use of film in advertising. However, the pair both understood that their most powerful advantage was the quality of their product.


    As the brand grew, it began to win award after award; each recognising Dewar’s blended Scotch whisky as a leading brand within their industry. To this day, the brand still remains the most highly awarded blended Scotch whisky in the world, with over 400 competitive awards to their name.


    Of all the brands awards and accolades, one that speaks for itself is the Royal Warrant, awarded to the brand in 1893 by Queen Victoria. Dewar’s is the only blended Scotch whisky brand to earn this warrant and the only to continuously supply the royal household with blended Scotch whisky to this day.
