An 'old-school', authentic blended scotch whisky from Cutty Sark, bottled at a stronger than usual 50% abv. This premium expression celebrates Captain William McCoy, who was a former first mate of the US Merchant Navy. Captain McCoy was a famous 'rum runner,' and used to import and export whisky by the boatload across American waters during prohibition.
Pale amber - darker than standard Cutty bottlings - with good beading. A rich nose, with some prickle. Fruit loaf with chilli pepper at full strength; a little water raises toffee and malt. The taste is sweet, fruity, malty and spicy, with traces of butterscotch, and a long warming finish. Smooth and mouth-coating with water, now a trace of kiwi fruit; still long and peppery.
