Ichiro Akuto adds another to his repertoire with this fine Malt Wine Wood Reserve. This particular blend is created using Japanese whisky from Chichibu. The Japanese whiskies are all finished in ex-red wine casks from France, adding a new layer of flavour complexity. This one is bottled at 46% abv, is free from chill filtration, and comes with a natural deep amber colour.
The nose gives hints of chocolate orange, creamy barley and liquorice. Strawberry jam, oily walnut, dried spices and red berries arrive on the palate. The finish lingers, with a delicate hint of chocolate, orange peel and sherried spices.
