This 29 Year Old Irish Single Malt Whiskey #2 is the seventh batch from an undisclosed distillery. Aged for 29 years in a selection of ex-rum casks, this expression is bottled at 50.2% and is a limited release of 377 bottles. Part of the Home Nations series, this label shows Aeneas Coffey, pioneer of the Coffey Still, being told to ‘jog on’ after presenting his ideas to the Irish Distillers board.
The nose is rich and complex. Expect aromas of stewed orchard fruits, Sun-Maid Raisins, tropical fruits, melon, and kiwifruit. The palate offers salivating notes of stewed apples, melon and exotic spices. The finish again demonstrates the dram’s complexity, with lingering fruitiness and spice. One to really sink your teeth into.
