This heavily peated whisky is proof that not all peated treats come from Islay, matured for 55% of its cask life in ex bourbon cask and the other 45% of its cask life in ex-sherry casks this fine malt not only gives you its core peated flavors but also treats you to the fruity and sweet infusions that come with its sherry butt maturation.
The nose is surprising fresh with hints of apples and mixed seeds filling your nostrils before being replaced with the strong scent of a smoldering fire. The palate continues the theme of fruitiness with flavors of grilled fruits along side caramelised brown sugar and peppermint creams. The finish has a strong core of peat smoke with undertones of salted beef, parma ham and crushed vanilla pods.
