About Courvoisier
As legend has it, once French Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte tasted the cognac, he made a personal visit to the Courvoisier cellar. Years later, Napoléon III, nephew and heir to Napoléon Bonaparte, also personally requested Courvoisier and awarded the Maison Courvoisier the much sought-after title of Fournisseur Officiel de la Maison de l’Empereur, or the official supplier of Napoléon’s Imperial Court in 1869. Because of Napoléon’s stamp of approval, Courvoisier became beloved throughout Europe and was served at notable historic joyous occasions and graced the tables of many royal courts.
Courvoisier is the only cognac house to ever win the coveted “Prestige de la France” title.
Cognac can only be produced from grapes in six legally recognized "crus" or areas in the Cognac region. Courvoisier mainly works with the finest four: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois
The wine is double distilled in an intense process unique to cognac. It takes place from the end of the harvest, when all the grape juice has fermented and turned into wine until the 31st of March, by law.
