We are happy to introduce this Unexpeated whisky, a red-wine-barrel-aged Australian single malt, that underwent a finishing period in super-peated Islay whiskey barrels. From the Starward Distillery comes this experimental dram, a combination of the finest Australian whisky-making tradition with Islay heritage. For the first time, that classic coastal island flavour will make its way down under to meet with Australian fruit-forward whisky.
Expect a big bunch of tropical fruits to arrive on the nose, complementing toasted oak, and sweet peat. The palate is full of ripe red berries, sea salt salinity, ripe orchard fruits, cocoa, and toasted oak. This toasted oak note lingers on the finish, alongside a big hit of peat smoke.
