Sazerac Rye
American Rye Whiskey
Named for the spicy rye whiskey cocktail popular in New Orleans' coffee houses in the 1800s, this uncut and unfiltered Straight Rye Whiskey is bottled directly from the barrel - just as it was over a century ago.
About Sazerac
Sazerac Rye whiskey symbolises the tradition and history of vibrant and colourful New Orleans. Produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky, it is named after the famous art deco Sazerac Bar – the home of America’s first cocktail: The Sazerac.
The original cocktail is a combination of rye whiskey, Demerara syrup, absinthe and Peychaud's bitters.
Released only once a year, Sazerac 18-Year-Old and Thomas H. Handy Sazerac are two highly coveted bottlings among whiskey aficionados.
'Baby Saz' is the colloquial name for the youngest rye in the Sazerac family.
History
Sazerac is the parent company of not only Sazerac Rye, but also Southern Comfort, 1792 and Buffalo Trace Distillery’s many offerings – such as W.L Weller and Pappy Van Winkle. However, Sazerac Rye is the only to bear its famous name. The moniker was given to the cocktail after the Sazerac coffee house where it was served, however, the Sazerac family were previously known for their cognac!
