A stunning new series from Yamazaki. Hailing from the oldest distillery in Japan, this series celebrates the diversity in whisky making by presenting four whiskies which have all had different cask finishes.
Puncheon is at the heart of Yamazaki, representing what really makes their whiskies shine. The large puncheon casks have allowed this single malt to undergo a long, slow maturation to create a truly intricate expression.
On the nose, there is peach, pear, and vanilla pods. The palate is smooth and rich with caramel notes before leading into a sweet and woody finish.
Spanish Oak is a fabulous single malt that was matured in, you guessed it, some of the finest oak casks that Spain has to offer. This expression is rich, fruity, and surprisingly bitter, representing the complex flavour profile of Yamazaki single malts.
The nose has plenty of dried fruits, with raisins and dates at the forefront. The palate is deep and rich with a unexpected hint of acidity before leading into a lingering buttery and bitter finish.
Mizunara represents the signature flavours of Yamazaki single malts. Famous for their Mizunara oak maturation, this expression celebrates the wood that gives Yamazaki their distinctive and refined character.
The nose is refined and sumptuous with aromas of sweet cinnamon arising. The palate is smooth, fragrant, and gently spicy before leading in to a lingering, woody, and aromatic finish.
Peated represents the unique flavour that appear in the finish of Yamazaki expressions. The powerful smoky notes that come from peated drams are essential to creating the complexity of Yamazaki single malts.
The nose is pleasantly herbal and gently smoky. On the palate, hints of zesty citrus, earthy notes, and subtle peat smoke appear before leading into the lingering smoky finish.
