Royal Salute
Blended Scotch Whisky
Royal Salute is a deluxe brand of premium blended whisky. Launched by the Chivas brothers, this Aberdeen-based brand has its base at Strathisla Distillery, the oldest working distillery in the Scottish Highlands.
About Royal Salute
Although the home of Royal Salute was founded in 1801, the brand itself was launched on 2 June 1953 by Chivas Brothers in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her coronation. It is named after the 21-gun salute, the firing of artillery and guns as a mark of a military honour.
Royal Salute whisky is aged for a minimum of 21 years.
The Duke of Argyll, Torquhil Campbell, has the role of Brand Ambassador for Royal Salute.
Strathisla, as well as being the home of Royal Salute, is also one of the core constituent malts in the blends.
History
The first blend, created at the brands Strathisla distillery in Speyside, was crafted to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Since then there has been multiple commemorative bottlings, including the Royal Salute 50 Year Old, marking Queen Elizabeth II’s golden jubilee and the most recent Royal Salute Diamond Jubilee edition marking 60 years since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. Launched by the Chivas Brothers’, operations are now in the hands of Pernod Ricard.
