Bruichladdich Black Art Edition 8.1 was distilled in 1994, the year that the distillery closed for what could have been the final time. Matured entirely on Islay for 26 years in a selection of casks - the exact composition of which is only known to Head Distiller Adam Hannett - this expression is the eighth release in the Black Art series and the third to be created by Hannett. Each bottle is individually numbered, free from chill-filtration and colouring, and bottled at a strength of 45.1% abv.
The nose has citrus zest from limes and oranges, alongside sweeter notes of caramel and maple syrup. The palate is full of sweet oak, with nutty undertones and dried fruits flavours that continue in the finish, alongside sweet caramel shortcake.
