We are very excited to announce this Bushmills whiskey, totally exclusive to The Whisky Shop. This expression has been aged for a showstopping 28 years. This, the second annual release of The Causeway Collection, is an incredibly rare Bushmills 1991 Madeira Cask. The first release was a riotous success and this expression looks to continue in this manner. This single malt was aged for over 13 years in a combination of oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, but that's not all. It then went through a maturation of 15 years in first fill Madeira wine casks. Only 738 bottles exist, and each one is bottled at a cask strength 50.2% abv. The expression is also free from chill filtration and artificial colouring. The last release in this collection sold out incredibly fast, and this is only available while stocks last.
The decadent Madeira cask maturation has given this dram a fabulously rich, deep, fruity, and sweet profile. Expect fruit to arrive on the nose, with supple hints of dark chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, mandarins, and toasted oak. The palate is one of sweet fruit, giving way to nutty praline creaminess, with further hints of coffee and velvety chocolate. A long, dry finish awaits, with dried fruits, and a touch of peppery heat. Divine.
