The whisky from Glen Spey distillery is primarily used in blends, so this Flora and Fauna bottling is a bit of a rarity. The spirit stills at Glen Spey are equipped with purifiers, which create additional reflux, resulting in a lighter spirit - and this light style comes through in this bottling.

Glen Spey distillery started life as an oatmeal mill and founder, James Stuart, was a corn merhcant before making the switch into the whisky world by adding brewing and distilling equipment in 1878, operating as 'Mill of Rothes' distillery.

In 1887, James Stuart sold "Mill of Rothes" (now Glen Spey) to W. & A. Gilbey for 11,000 GBP andbought "Elchies Distillery" (now that little-known distillery, Macallan).
