Distilled at the original Port Ellen in 1979, these nine casks of whisky were discovered and brought together by the master distiller to craft a unique limited edition release: the oldest and most limited to date. Each cask was matured for at least 40 years before all nine were married together and bottled at a natural cask strength of 50.9% abv, free from any artificial colouring. Presented in a beautiful case, under lock and key, this release is limited to just 1,380 bottles worldwide. The nose is delicate, with a mild smoke complemented by burnt orange, fresh herbs and a grassy note. Port Ellen distillery was founded as a malt mill in 1825, later being developed as a distillery between 1833 and 1892. The distillery closed its doors for the last time in 1983, but with the resurgence of single malt whisky, stocks from the closed distillery became revered for their quality. Limited editions of the remaining liquid were released almost annually by owners Diageo, to much acclaim from whisky connoisseurs. In 2019, plans to revive the distillery were approved and Port Ellen is set to re-open in 2021. Back to top

Returns

If your item is damaged in transit or you receive an item that is clearly different to that ordered, we will arrange for a return via courier and issue a full refund.

To be eligible for a full refund you must contact us to inform us of any issue within 24 hours of receipt. Refunds will be credited back to your original payment method once we have received the returned items.

Please note that any personalised, bespoke or made-to-order items, or items with a broken seal, are non-refundable unless faulty.

Cancellations

If you wish to cancel your order, you must do so within 14 days from the day you received delivery. Items that are bespoke or personalised cannot be cancelled, and will only be returnable if faulty.

In the event of cancellation, the cost of returning your items will be your responsibility and not that of The Whisky Shop. Items must be returned within 14 days from the date of cancellation. Refunds will be processed on receipt of the items.
