About Hunter Laing & Co

Hunter Laing & Co was technically established in 2013, when the brothers Fred and Stewart of Douglas Laing & Co decided to split the company assets and operate their own independent bottling operations. While Fred Laing was joined by his daughter Cara, Stewart Laing’s two sons Andrew and Scott were recruited to the new firm. Nowadays the company has agreements with some of the biggest whisky companies in the world for some of their most exclusive casks.

Stewart admits he has a “sweet tooth” and his favourite whisky would probably be a well-aged bottling of Sovereign grain whisky.
Fred Senior sent him to work for six months on the Isle of Islay at the famous Bruichladdich Distillery, learning the traditional and time proven skills of distilling single malt whisky — a period Stewart describes as one of the happiest of his life.
Hunter Laing & Co. Ltd was technically founded in 2013, with its headquarters at 16 Park Circus in Glasgow.

History

Stewart Laing’s father Frederick Laing founded the whisky blending business in Glasgow in 1949. In 1964, his son Stewart joined the family business. In 2014, Stewart celebrated 50 years in the scotch whisky industry.
