Hint of Sherry 2026 is just the second release from the Chichibu II distillery, which opened in 2019 and operates in very much the same meticulous, craft-led vein as its 2008 forebear. The whisky is five to six years old, matured in sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels with a touch of peated malt included in its make-up. A balanced, expressive dram, it’s presented at 53.3% abv, without artificial colour or chill filtration. The nose opens with hints of peat smoke and dark chocolate alongside raisins, sultanas and candied citrus. Vanilla, honey, and subtle baking spices lace the palate before powerful lapsang souchong and sweet smoke notes linger on the finish. Read More

Chichibu Distillery 2 Hint of Sherry 2026 Release Description

Hint of Sherry 2026 is just the second release from the Chichibu II distillery, which opened in 2019 and operates in very much the same meticulous, craft-led vein as its 2008 forebear.

The whisky is five to six years old, matured in sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels with a touch of peated malt included in its make-up. A balanced, expressive dram, it’s presented at 53.3% abv, without artificial colour or chill filtration.

The nose opens with hints of peat smoke and dark chocolate alongside raisins, sultanas and candied citrus. Vanilla, honey, and subtle baking spices lace the palate before powerful lapsang souchong and sweet smoke notes linger on the finish.

Chichibu – small-scale, craft-focused, fiercely independent – was founded in 2008 in Saitama Prefecture, around 100km from Tokyo, with Chichibu II following in 2019 to build on its success. The distilleries’ founder, Ichiro Akuto, is the latest in a long line of sake and shochu brewers and the grandson of Isouji Akuto, founder of the now-closed Hanyu Distillery. Back to top

Returns

If your item is damaged in transit or you receive an item that is clearly different to that ordered, we will arrange for a return via courier and issue a full refund.

To be eligible for a full refund you must contact us to inform us of any issue within 24 hours of receipt. Refunds will be credited back to your original payment method once we have received the returned items.

Please note that any personalised, bespoke or made-to-order items, or items with a broken seal, are non-refundable unless faulty.

Cancellations

If you wish to cancel your order, you must do so within 14 days from the day you received delivery. Items that are bespoke or personalised cannot be cancelled, and will only be returnable if faulty.

In the event of cancellation, the cost of returning your items will be your responsibility and not that of The Whisky Shop. Items must be returned within 14 days from the date of cancellation. Refunds will be processed on receipt of the items.
