This 51-year-old single malt Scotch has been crafted by Dalmore for release in the distillery's 180th year, and the first release of the new decade. Beginning life in ex-bourbon casks, before being split into prestigious Port Colheita 1938 casks, Matusalem sherry casks and first fill bourbon casks, this expression received a final flourish in specially selected bourbon barrels before being bottled. Presented in a beautifully crafted crystal decanted adorned by a Sterling silver Royal stag and crowned with a custom crystal stopper, just 51 bottles of this limited edition have been created.
The nose is luxurious with liquorice, Napoleon cake, black morello cherries, marmalade, and hints of Oloroso sherry atop notes of coffee, fruit cake, manuka honey, and pears soaked in tawny port. The palate has juicy El Dorado plums, raisins, ginger cake, Demerara sugar and vanilla pod. The finish brings sweet notes of sultanas, hot chocolate, treacle and pineapple.
