May 21st seen the beginning of the annual Campbeltown Festival and we had the privilege of being there courtesy of Glen Scotia. We really were spoilt right from the beginning of the trip in what were a remarkable couple of days. Let’s take a look at the highlights: The first thing on the agenda was a private tour of Glen Scotia Distillery and a tasting with Distillery Manager, Iain McAllister. We had the opportunity to taste the brilliant core range that Glen Scotia offer as well as the outstanding Glen Scotia 25 Year Old. Glen Scotia Distillery Manager, Iain McAllister We particularly liked the 25 Year Old’s palate of red apple, orange peel and vanilla syrup with a sweet caramel note followed by a long spicy finish with hints of ground ginger. It’s no wonder this dram was awarded Liquid Gold status with a score of 94/100 in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2019. Glen Scotia Distillery Manager, Iain McAllister Next up was the famed Glen Scotia Whisky Dinner at the Ardshiel Hotel where we had an amazing three course meal made with the finest local Kintyre produce, paired with a selection of Glen Scotia drams. We even had the opportunity to taste the 2019 Single Cask Festival bottle before anyone else, and what a dram it was! Glen Scotia Ardshiel Dinner After a brilliant first day we were back to it enjoying Glen Scotia’s Day of the Festival on Wednesday 22nd May. Take a look at the action: Glen Scotia Day at Campbeltown FestivalEarlier this year we ran a competition at The Whisky Shop to win tickets to this year’s Campbeltown Festival and we’re delighted our winners had such a brilliant time.
