The Lakes Distillery
English Single Malt Whisky
A whisky distillery with an artistic ethos, situated in the heart of The Lake District National Park. It claims that “the nature of their art is whisky, the inspiration of their art is nature” and, while they respect the traditional whisky-making process, their philosophy looks at not only what whisky is, but what whisky can be. Their intent is to make a whisky which expresses The Lakes through flavour.

The Lakes Distillery
The Lake District has long been a crucible for creativity, a place in which the imagination can flourish, and it’s no different for the Lakes’ Whiskymaker. The distillery takes its inspiration from the UNESCO World Heritage Site where the state-of-the-art distillery has been built meticulously within a 160-year-old farmstead on the banks of the River Derwent.
"Each of The Whiskymaker's Editions represents a different art form every time. Unique, of the moment, and never to be repeated, they are singular expressions of creative and artistic freedom that convey emotions, ideas and feels through the language of whisky." - THE LAKES WHISKYMAKER, DHAVALL GANDHI
The Art of Blending
Whisky-making in its highest form is a dance between science and art, control and creativity. Traditionally, blending is used to create consistency, or remove inconsistencies, in single malt. With The Whiskymaker’s Editions series, it is where The Lakes Distillery’s whisky is designed.
The distillery is proud of how well its Whiskymaker knows each cask; how the flavours are evolving and how they can be blended with others to complement, enhance, deepen, broaden or contrast. In the latest addition, he explores the subtleties of flavour to paint a unique and very different picture to our sherry-led house style. Playing with layers of flavours and texture to create depth and complexity, that when finished, with reflect emotions, feelings, and thoughts through the language of whisky. Blending whisky is dynamic, it is creative and expressive. It is also, ultimately, personal.
