Next week we 'Return to Oz' with That Boutique-y Whisky Company and 'Boutique-y Dave' Dave Worthington. Coming two years after the renowned independent bottler's sell-out Australia Series, the Return to Oz collection brings together some award-winning and hard-to-find whiskies from Down Under. True to form, each bottling has a cartoon illustration depicting the story of each distillery, with every bottling given it's own deadly animal to represent it. Get your pack now, and accompany us on the 29th June, for a bespoke journey through contemporary Australian whisky.
The award-winning That Boutique-y Whisky Company are one of the most extensive independent whisky bottler of distilleries and maker of blends. They are famed for their funky labels and sense of humour whilst sourcing the most special liquids from all around the globe. The company prides itself on finding especially unique whisky in limited-edition runs. It could be a once in a lifetime expression from one of the world’s greatest distilleries, a whisky that doesn’t quite fit a distillery’s whisky ‘style’, or an unknown distillery making incredible whisky that they want to gain more notoriety – whatever it is, it’s sure to be like nothing else.
Each pack contains 5 x 3cl samples of:
- Riverbourne 2 Year Old Batch 2 That Boutique-y Malt Company Return To Oz - crafted using heavily peated malt from Bairds, the expression was matured for two years in an 100 litre cask made from recycled, charred oak wine staves. Expect waves of sweet smoke, candied citrus and vanilla toffee, closing with earthy peat and a pinch of salt.
- Corowa 4 Year Old Batch 1 That Boutique-y Whisky Company Return To Oz - matured for four years in a Tawny port cask, you can expect rich flavours of candied orange peel and more dark chocolate, intertwined with sour cherry and oak spice.
- Tria Prima 2 Year Old Batch 1 That Boutique-y Malt Company Return To Oz - matured for two years in an ex-Grant Burge, first-fill Tawny cask, this one holds notes of figs and dried plums blended with dark chocolate and a hint of BBQ sauce.
- Chief's Son 5 Year Old Batch 1 That Boutique-y Whisky Company Return To Oz - matured for five years in an ex-Apera wine cask, expect notes of mint toffee, stewed plums, oak spices and earthy peat with a gentle whisper of smoke on the finish.
- The Gospel 3 Year Old Batch 1 That Boutique-y Whisky Company Return To Oz - an Australian Rye Whiskey, matured for three years in a new American oak cask as standard, with a special finish in an Australian red wine cask. The palate gives flavours of buttery rye bread, caramel, vanilla bean, red fruits and mixed spice.
