    The Last Drop Distillers

    The Last Drop Distillers 1971

Voted Best Blended Scotch Whisky of the Year and awarded 97 points
    - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2017

The Last Drop Distillers is the world's most exclusive spirits collection: hunting and bottling the finest and rarest spirits from around the world. A mere 12 releases, representing just 6,500 bottles, have been produced in 10 years!

The Last Drop 1971 Blended Scotch Whisky is created from more than 40 malt and grain whiskies, all distilled in the year 1971. After maturing for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks, the whisky was first blended in 1983 as a premium blend for the US market. The balance after bottling was transferred to 11 ex-Oloroso sherry butts to continue to mature. After nine years, a small portion was siphoned off to be bottled as a 21-year-old blend. The remainder was then refilled once more into nine ex-bourbon American oak barrels, where it lay for a final 24 years until The Last Drop Distillers bottled it at its peak.

This 1971 vintage blend can therefore be classed as 'triple matured', which is probably unique for a whisky with such age. The three distinct periods of maturation have given this blend an exceptional complexity, with rich flavours able to develop in harmony throughout its long maturation. Only 1,352 bottles exist, each one presented in a forest green leather case with a generous 50ml miniature, a custom stopper, a luxury tasting book and a signed certificate of authenticity.
