This exquisite 50-year-old single malt was distilled at Speyside's Benromach distillery, by hand, in June 1969. Gently matured in cask number 2003 for half a century, this limited edition was finally bottled on 12th June 2019, aged fifty years and one day. Just 125 bottles have been produced at a natural cask strength of 44.6% abv, with each bottle engraved with its individual bottle number and bearing a bronze collar inscribed with the cask number.
The nose is sweet with sherry notes, prune syrup, raisins, brown sugar, butterscotch, ginger and candied orange peel before a gentle wisp of smoke. The palate opens peppery, leading to ripe apricot and peach, dried tobacco leaf and a soft menthol note. The finish is mellow and fruity with lingering oak.
