We're so excited about this one: a stunning 40-year-old Singleton of Glen Ord! We have 12 bottles available for a dozen lucky ballotters, priced at £3,300. It will run for 48 hours, closing at 12pm on 14th April.

Beginning as a typical Singleton 12 year old, the whisky was transferred to several rum casks to double mature for a further 28 years. To enhance the base notes of dark chocolate and ripe plum, they were then married in rare Solera casks of Zacapa and Royal Rum to create a decadently sweet, exotic and velvety dram. Presented in a stunning wooden case, and bottled at 45.9% abv.

The expression itself is the finale of The Singleton’s Epicurean Odyssey Series: three releases bottled to ‘pursue deeply pleasurable flavour.’ Malt Master Maureen Robinson pushed secondary maturation in experimental casks to the extremes, and then layered on further deliberate enhancements to create their most indulgent whiskies.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, one finds notes of dried apple, cocoa, plum and sage, with hints of toffee and oak shavings. The palate is sweet and fruity, complicated by notes of sea-salt and sour plum. Lashings of dark chocolate follow, along with sweet banana, pineapple and pear flavours, and a spicy undercurrent of black pepper. On the close, the peppery note comes to the fore, with a whisper of waxy smoke.

Buyers of this rare whisky will also be invited to an exclusive dinner and tasting event, hosted by The Singleton, at either:

Prestonfield Edinburgh on Thursday 8th June

or

Noble Rot Mayfair on Wednesday 28th June
