The Whisky

The fourth release of Fettercairn 16 year old single malt, this 2023 bottling has been matured in a combination of first fill ex-Port pipes and ex-Bourbon casks. The whisky expertly showcases the distillery's signature tropical flavours, derived from their cooper cooling ring distillation process - in which the stills are drenched in clear mountain water to ensure only the finest vapours rise.

Expect tropical fruit warmth on the nose, alongside layers of rich cacao, sugared almonds and floral top notes. The palate is bursting with blackberries, raspberries, sweet vanilla and caramel notes which lead into hints of plum, fresh baked ginger cake, cherries and aged oak spice that accentuate the tropical house characteristics of Fettercairn.

The Distillery

Fettercairn Distillery

Fettercairn is a refined, natural single malt whisky producer based in Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire. The distillery prides itself on doing the process of whisky-making a little differently, with an air of experimentation over a great deal of its range. Fettercairn believe in a few deeply held principles. It uses pure mountain water, unique stills with cooling rings allowing for more distillation, and approaching tradition methods differently when it comes to casking. Fettercairn translates to ‘foot of the mountain’ and the distillery is surrounded by beautiful forests and glens at the foot of the Cairngorms. They are known for flavours of tropical fruits, golden barley, and vanilla.
