Shop the new Aberlour A'bunadh Alba here today at The Whisky Shop.

A'bunadh Alba is named after quercus alba, which is the type of American Oak that the whisky has been matured in. Interestingly, "alba" translates to Scotland in Gaelic. Aberlour's A'bunadh Alba is a Scottish expression from the heart of Speyside that pays homage to the necessity of American produce in whisky making.

This exciting release goes against the grain of Aberlour's usual produce - famed for their sherry cask matured whiskies, Alba has spent its maturation period in first fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels. These casks have created a sweet and fruity expression, a far cry from the spicy cocoa flavours the original sherry cask matured A'bunadh boasts.

The expression has been bottled at cask strength 62.7% abv and is free from chill filtration and artificial colouring. Sunlight gold in colour, this whisky has notes of sweet, juicy fruits on the nose with hints of heather honey and warm vanilla. Zesty on the palate, flavours of grapefruit and apple dance across the tongue, complemented by notes of marzipan and shortbread which melts into a delectably smooth finish.

A'bunadh Alba is encased in a classic, minimalistic bottle which aligns with Aberlour's belief in putting substance before style. Aberlour is a brand that lets their whisky do the talking. The burnt orange wax seal highlights the handmade nature of A'bunadh Alba. A simple label is implemented to keep the attention on the essential information about the whisky - the batch number, the casks used, and the cask strength abv. The bottle is kept in a canister that is wrapped in a hessian-like fabric that is complimented by tasteful gold and copper detailing.

We are also running a Golden Dram competition in conjunction with this launch. Every customer who purchases a bottle of Aberlour A'bunadh Alba between the 22nd and 25th February will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win a bottle of Aberlour 17 First Fill Sherry.
