5 Festive Scotch Whisky Cocktails
We've assembled some of the best winter warmer cocktails from our favourite Scotch whisky brands for you to make at your Christmas parties. Let's take a look. Each recipe serves one, so remember to scale up for your guests!
Coffee Meeting - Arran
Sweet apples and cloves from the whisky blend wonderfully with strong coffee and herbal bitter flavours for a refreshing yet dark and warming pick-me-up.
- Add 40 ml Arran Quarter Cask “The Bothy”, 30 ml Red Vermouth, 10 ml Coffee Liqueur and 5 ml Chocolate Bitters to a mixing glass.
- Stir ingredients over ice.
- Strain in a prechilled glass.
Highland Tempest - The Singleton
A bold concoction of The Singleton, ginger beer and lime, consider this one a winter julep!
- Combine 45 ml Singleton 12 Year Old and 30 ml lime juice in a glass.
- Add ice and stir.
- Top with about 150 ml of ginger beer, and garnish with cinnamon sticks.
Whisky Sour - The Glenlivet
This easy-going cocktail dates back centuries and has always remained a favourite amongst whisky drinkers. Simple to make and a classic party pleaser, get your hands on a scotch sour.
- Combine 50 ml The Glenlivet 12 Year Old, 25 ml lemon juice, 12 ml simple syrup and 12 ml egg white (optional) to a cocktail shaker.
- Add ice and shake until well chilled.
- Strain into glass.
Prince Edward - Nc'nean
A sublimely elegant cocktail, this one combines the fresh Nc'nean organic single malt with wintery spice.
- Combine 50 ml Nc'nean Organic Single Malt Whisky, 20 ml Cocchi Americano, 10 ml Drambuie and 2 dashes of orange bitters in a mixing glass.
- Fill with ice and stir.
- Strain into a prechilled glass, and garnish with an orange twist.
Warming Soul Toddy - Highland Park
Packed with and sweet and spicy flavour contrasts, this is a perfect winter pick-me-up - best served with family and friends!
- Combine 50 ml Highland Park 12 Year Old, 100 ml cloudy apple juice, 15 ml lemon juice and 2 tsp honey into a mug.
- Pour over 100 ml boiled water and stir until the honey has dissolved.
- Add cinnamon stick, as a garnish and also to impart aromatic flavours to the drink.
